Why study in New Zealand?

Times are changing, and in our ‘post-pandemic’ world, career popularity has also diversified somewhat around the globe.

What types of courses should I be studying, you may ask? Maybe your feet are itching too? You want to travel abroad, but don’t quite know where to start?

Well, remember that as of 31 July 2022, New Zealand will be accepting Student Visa applicants (as per the recent Government statement).

With this in mind, why don’t we make things a little bit easier for you and start by reviewing some of the post-pandemic most sought after careers for several locations…

Most In-Demand Careers as of 2022 (in no particular order)

New Zealand – Nurse, Healthcare Worker, Teacher, Web Developer, Business Analyst

Germany – Data Scientist, Product Manager, Software Developer, HR Manager, Graphic Designer

Latin America – Nurse, Pharmacist, Biochemist, Data Engineer, Marketing, E-commerce

United Kingdom – Health Services and Residential Care, Software Developer, Cyber Security, Graphic Designer

I’m not sure about you, but I look at these and see TECHNOLOGY and HEALTHCARE in bold flashing lights. Two areas in which New Zealand has quality education providers, as well as employment opportunities.

You never know, this step taken to study abroad could be an incredible pathway into living and working in New Zealand on a Post-Study Work Visa… trust me, you will want to stick around for a couple of years, at least! But this option, my friends, is another story entirely (with it’s own requirements to be covered at a later date, I promise).

What do Seven Seas most popular locations have on offer, in alignment with the above post-pandemic career options?

Tertiary institute Toi-Oho-Mai (located in Tauranga/Mount Maunganui) is offering a number of courses such as the NZ Diploma in Business; Postgraduate Diploma in Management; NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing; NZ Diploma in Health Science; Bachelor of Nursing; Bachelor of Creative Industries (Graphic Design) and the NZ Diploma in Software Development.*

Up Education (located in Auckland) is offering a Foundation Course Programme (to upskill academic English/essay writing/lectures and transitional assistance into the Bachelor’s Degree of choice).

Yoobee Colleges is offering the Bachelor of Animation, Bachelor of Software Engineering and the Diploma in Cloud Engineering.

ICL Business School is offering IELTS and General English language courses which can lead into the NZ Diploma in Business. They also cater to those wanting to study a Postgraduate Diploma of Business and Masters of Management. A particularly impressive programme on offer is the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education). You could have previously studied a completely different Bachelors Degree field in your country of origin and be able to take this pathway into a new industry. As it is on the Essential Skills Immigration list, it would also be easier for you to be granted a New Zealand Residence Visa.

So what are you waiting for? Hop to it, get planning, and narrow down what field you may like to study here in the one-of-a-kind country we call Aotearoa, New Zealand.
